◆Awaji Island Category—Awaji Island Japan Heritage

The 31 cultural assets that make up "Awaji Island, the Island of the Birth of a Nation" (the opening chapter of "Kojiki"), which is recognized as a Japan Heritage site, are the subject of this project, including "the myth of the birth of a nation,""citizens of the sea," "sea people," and "Miketsukuni”.

◆Local Category ー Oral Tradition, Folktales, Legends

Themes related to oral traditions, folk tales, and legends that are handed down to the prefecture where you live, the homeland where you were born, or the land where you have a connection.

*You may make an entry for more than one category. Collaborative works are acceptable. However, only unpublished original works are accepted.

Entry Format

Illustrations: Single-panel works without frame divisions.

Manga: "One-panel manga," "Four-panel manga (about 5 pages)," "Story manga (4 to 24 pages recommended)”

Entry Requirements

(1) Any professional or amateur is accepted
(2) Any nationality and any age is acceptable (children under 15 years of age and junior high school students and under are considered for the children's category).

Manuscript Standards, etc.

(1) Shared Items
(1) The dialogue and title must be in Japanese.
(2) The submitted work can be in either color or black and white. (A mixture of color with black and white is acceptable.)
(3) Page numbers should be attached to the bottom of the manuscript.

(2) For handwritten manuscripts
(1) The size of the manuscript should be 180mm (W) x 270mm (H), and it can be cut in any direction.
(2) Work written on both sides of the manuscript will not be accepted.
(3) The dialogue and the title should be clear and legible (regardless of whether it is handwritten or printed).

(3) For digital manuscripts
(1) The data should be either in jpeg or png format. The resolution should be 600dpi or higher for monochrome, and 350dpi or higher for color.
(2) Any font is accepted.

Submission Method

(1) Submit one digital copy of the paper.
(2) When submitting on paper, please make a full-size copy.
(3) When submitting as a data file, submit it on a CD-R or DVD-R.
(4) Along with the submission of the work, submit the original story behind the specific subject matter used as the basis for the creation of the work (including specification of the literature, documents, etc. used as reference).

Selection

The selection will be made by the "National Kuniumi Manga World Cup Judging Committee" (hereinafter referred to as the "Judging Committee").

Precautions

(1) For prize-winning works, we will ask for the submission of the original manuscript (in psd or eps format for digital manuscripts) at a later date. (In the case of text, such as titles and dialogues, these should be on a separate layer.)
(2) Submitted copies, CD-Rs and DVD-Rs (including translated versions of the manuscript standard ❶ ①) will not be returned and will be discarded after the selection process has ended, as a general rule.
(3) The submitted work must not infringe on the copyrights, rights to usage of one’s likeness, or any other rights or interests of any third party. In the event that a third party claims a case for plagiarism, illegal copying, or any other claims related to copyrights, rights to usage of one’s likeness, etc., regarding the submitted work, the author assumes all responsibility.
(4) The copyright of the submitted work belongs to the author. However, the organizer may use the submitted work, in whole or in part, free of charge for the purpose of publishing the work (including electronically) or using the work in a project sponsored or approved by the organizer. The author agrees to this in advance when submitting an entry. In principle, the right to use the work by the organizer as described above will be limited after individual consultation with the artist, depending on the type of use.

Awards

The judging committee will award the Grand Prix to the most outstanding works in the Awaji Island Division and the Local Division, and the Award of Excellence to other outstanding works as follows.

・Awaji Island Division Manga Grand Prix / Adult Division and Child Division: 1 work each, total of 2 works

Adult Division prize money: ¥200,000 Children's Division gift certificate: ¥20,000

・Awaji Island Division Illustration Grand Prix/Adult Division and Children’s Division: 1 work each, total of 2 works

Adult division prize money ¥100,000, Children's division gift certificate ¥10,000

・Local Division Manga Grand Prix/adult division and children’s division: 1 work each, total of 2 works

Prize money for the adult division: ¥200,000, Gift certificate for the children's division: ¥20,000

・Local Category Illustration Grand Prix: 1 work each in the adult and children's categories, for a total of 2 works

Adult division prize money ¥100,000 Children's division gift certificate ¥10,000

・Awaji Island Division Manga Excellence Award / Adult Division and Children’s Division: 2 works each, total of 4 works

Adult Division Prize Money: ¥50,000; Children's Division gift certificate: ¥5,000

・Local Division Manga Excellence Award / Adult Division, Children’s Division: 2 works each, 4 works in total

・Local Division Illustration Excellence Award: 2 works each in the adult and children's categories, for a total of 4 works.

Announcement of Winning Entries and Award Ceremony
Aiming to hold in February 2022 (will be announced on the official website) at the HELLO KITTY SHOWBOX on Awaji Island. Each prize winner will be invited to Awaji Island in conjunction with the award ceremony.
